Just Monday we got these cute little chicks from Tractor Supply. We got six in total and they are Pullets, a variety of breeds. They are soooo cute and their little chirps are adorable. (At times annoying) :)
So when we got them they came in a little box. Not the box shown in some of these pictures but just as small! We have now moved them into a bigger box than this so that's good. Chicks should be given room to breath! So their new home is a big cardboard box and extra cardboard pieces laid down inside and over that some paper towel for their waste.
When we got them, we forgot to get some baby chick food. So we made up our very own chick feed.
It is made with all dry foods: corn, oats, rice and wheat berries, so they're set for a while. They naturally have a little thing of water and a stick to perch on. (They jump out of the box that way too)
At night we put a heat lamp or the heating pad under (over) their box and put a blanket on top.
So we just have to hope for all hens and no roosters! :)
