There is an orange cat that occasionally visits our back yard, and he is very sweet. He's quite friendly, and it's a lot of fun to feed him leftovers from the refrigerator, but Jack is prejudiced against cats, which makes it difficult to keep the poor kitty at our house for very long before Jack starts barking like crazy and scares it away.
Cats would probably not be a great idea around the chickens, anyhow. A dog is bad enough to have around chickens, but our little rooster can chase a dog away. In fact, he chased a large Rottweiler dog down the road. I'm not sure how the rooster would respond to a cat, though.
