About the Six Little Chickens

Chickens are the only real farm animals that my family owns. They're an experiment, actually. My mom wanted some chickens, so one day as we were at a farm supply store, she said we were going to take some chicks home! I was surprised, I wasn't a huge fan of those animals! But we have had them since Spring and so far they have been pretty happy on our property.  But then there are lots of dogs in our neighborhood, and it's such a temptation for a dog to chase those big, mostly flightless birds.  That was an issue of concern, and our chickens have had plenty of encounters with dogs. Our rooster had his tail pulled out by a dog, (at least, we think that's what happened,) and the chickens have even been chased by Jack. And we thought he was a good dog! :)
